Meet the Teachers

Kathleen Cole (Director) received a Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the Baldwin-Wallace College Conservatory in Cleveland, Ohio in 1992 where she continued to teach privately as an adjunct faculty member until June of 2001. She and her husband Richard are the proud parents of four girls, ages 9, 7, and 4 year old twins. Her love of music and young children and her interest in early childhood development led her to become a licensed Kindermusik educator in 2002. Kathleen performs as a freelance flutist throughout the city and as piano accompanist and vocal soloist for her church.

Valarie McHone is a 2004 graduate from the University of Texas San Antonio with a degree in Music - Vocal Performance. Valarie has taught private voice lessons for four years, and currently uses her gifts to lead worship at her church. Her passion for children has led her to work at many daycare schools while also serving as a counselor at several summer camps. Now, as a licensed Kindermusik educator, Valarie has combined her passions for children and music into a single opportunity to encourage and strengthen the children she works with.

Kathleen Wayland (Ms. Kat) has enjoyed the magic of music all her life. Her parents began sharing music with her before she could walk, giving her the best start in life. Having developed a lifelong love of music, Kathleen played the piano, percussion and sang in choirs all the way through college where she received her Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. Kathleen has taught band, choir, orchestra and elementary music for 15 years in public school and at her church.

Kathleen opened Kindermusik with Kat! in the fall of 2003. Her studio became a Maestro Program (top 5% worldwide) in 2004 and remained in the top 1% and 5%. After serving over 300 families in the Grapevine/Colleyville area, Kindermusik with Kat! closed this summer because Ms. Kat moved with her husband, Alan, to New Braunfels . Kathleen and Alan have two very musical children, Evan (5) and Madeleine(4).
